1. Is there a shipment limit?
Without OP authorization: maximum 10 shipments per year.
With OP authorization: no limit.
2. What to do when exporting from the UK?
Send a pre-alert on the day of collection to: [email protected]
Email subject: Your AWB number
→ The AWB number is your DHL shipment tracking number, a unique 10-digit code used to identify and track your export shipment. You can find it on your DHL shipping label or in your shipping confirmation email.Email body:
Mention “Exportation for repair”
Include any authorization numbers (IP/OP, RMA, etc.)
Provide the serial numbers or references of the goods
3. What must be included when returning to the UK?
Mandatory mention on shipping documents: “Return after repair” (whether under or out of warranty).
Out of warranty: state the repair cost separately on the invoice.
Attach the original export AWB if available.
Provide additional details that DHL or Customs may request:
Reason for return (e.g., repair)
Import CPC if known
Outward Processing (OP) number and HMRC supervising office (if applicable)
Warranty status (under or out of warranty)
Value of the goods
Any other relevant info for customs (EORI number, commodity code, etc.)
4. What information must I provide to DHL?
EORI number
IP/OP authorizations (if available)
Standing instructions, NLR (No Licence Required), etc.
AWB number of original export
Repair cost/value
Any other information that helps clear customs efficiently (commodity code, CPC, reason for return, warranty status, HMRC office if applicable)
❓ Can a UK customer send a parcel to the EU without an EORI number?
In some cases, yes, particularly for low-value personal shipments or temporary exports.
However, sending goods without an EORI number can lead to:
Customs delays or refusals,
Requests for additional documentation,
Unexpected duties or handling fees.
👉 To avoid issues, we strongly recommend that all UK-based customers obtain an EORI number, even for temporary shipments.
