How does the Mail-in Unlock process actually work?

Procedure

  1. Prior Identification: (If possible) Perform a vehicle identification using your AutoTuner tool to confirm the Engine Control Unit (ECU) reference. A status message will confirm whether:

    • The ECU is supported,

    • The ECU is already unlocked,

    • The Remote Unlock service is available.

  2. Visual Inspection: Remove the ECU and inspect its overall condition (check pins, casing, etc.).

  3. Order: Purchase the "Mail-in Unlock" service on autotuner.com.

  4. Shipping: Carefully package the ECU, print the DHL shipping label attached to your order confirmation email, and send the parcel.

  5. Reinstallation: Once the unlocked ECU is returned to you, reinstall it in the vehicle. Reading and writing via the OBD port will now be accessible using your AutoTuner tool.
